Boucheron BP

Here is the elusive Boucheron basketweave 75 BP in solid 18K.  As you can see from the pictures the workmanship on this difficult weave pattern is truly exquisite.  It is no wonder that a high-end jewelry house such as Boucheron (now part of the Gucci Group) would offer this pen to its clientele.

What surprised me was the number of inscriptions made considering the very thin cap band.  Even the Boucheron name was inscribed!  Clearly someone went to a lot of trouble to make these tiny inscriptions.

As you can see, the cap band has the number 87055.

Here is  close-up of that number.

Could this be a serial number with 87 representing the year 1987 when this pen was made, and this pen being the 55th specimen?  This is just pure speculation on my part.

Send me email if you have one and let me know if yours has a "serial number".

Looking at the tassie, however, I would not think 1987 was the year the pen was made since this had a flat tassie.

The 18K gold content is indicated by various hallmarks on the pen shown in the magnified pictures below.

Cap band has:

  • OR 750

  • Eagle's head hallmark, a French Assay Office mark  for 18K gold in use since 1838.

  • Diamond shaped insignia with the 2 P's which is the sponsor's mark registered in France for the Parker Pen Company.

All these are French marks and consistent since Boucheron is a French luxury jewelry house.

Tassie has the eagle's head hallmark.

This is a relatively heavy pen, even as compared to an 18K lined BP.  The weights are as follows.
