This package comes with a double-hinged pewter box, which according to the Parker brochure is in the style of a colonial era writing desk.
The pewter plaque that you see may not belong in this package; I just received it that way. I do know this plaque was included in the desk set. If you have a pewter Bicentennial package, please write to me and let me know if your package included this plaque.
In a previous picture of the full package, I took the booklet from the wooden package for the Bicentennial because I thought it was missing from the pewter boxed package. Subsequently I had conversations with other owners of the pewter box package and I now believe that the booklet shown below is not part of the pewter box package. Simply, the booklet does not fit on either of the two compartments.
Opening the door on one side reveals the velvet-lined tray that normally contains two writing instruments -- a felt-tip and ballpoint pen. The BP was simply the felt-tip pen but fitted with a plastic shim to allow using the BP refill.
Opening the other door reveals 3 square velvet-lined areas that can be used to hold paperclips, stamps, etc. Here's a close-up of the plaque.
The plaque is inscribed as follows:
Cedar wood in this pewter plate
is a relic of Independence Hall
Philadelphia - 1776
