Here are some close-ups of this elusive pattern in the ultra high-end gold version. As you can see, between each pair of longitudinal lines going down the cap and barrel there are three rows of chevrons appearing like inverted letter v's - ^^^.

The engraving for "OR 0.750" specifies 18K gold. "OR" is the French word for gold. |
|
Here you can see the engraved hallmark for 18K gold on the cap band. It is the symbol with "PP" above "750". |
Even the flat end tassies have a eagle head hallmark to indicate they are also made of 18K gold.
|
Interestingly there is also a faint hallmark on the clip and an additional one on the cap tassie in the shape of a triangle with letters. Here is a close-up of that area on the cap tassie and clip.
To me, the letters appear to be "Sf" or "St" followed by something that looks like the number 5. I am not certain as the imprint is not crisp and appears to be partial. The other hallmark is definitely an eagle's head, which is the symbol of the French Assay Office to indicate 18K gold. |
Here the imprint is not recognizable to me. To me it almost looks like a lobster with its claws raised but who knows? |
If anyone should know what these hallmarks mean, please email me.
