Ecossais vs Prince de Galles

Created: 10-14-2008

The Ecossais vs Prince de Galles patterns are very similar as both have bands of grids separated by a relatively empty area.  As you can see in these pictures they do have some differences.  (Ecossais is silverplated while Prince de Galles is goldplated.)

Here are the notable differences with these close-up photos of the caps.

If you count the bands on these caps, which I identified with the blue line pairs next to each pen, you will see that there are 7 on the Prince de Galles and 11 on the Ecossais.

Notice also that the Ecossais has an inscription indicating that the silverplating thickness is 30 microns.  Having this inscription also indicates that this particular sample is the earliest Ecossais model.  There are later versions without the micron inscription.

Tassies are also different, dished for the Prince de Galles and flat for the early Ecossais.
