This promotional kit contains many elements as listed below in small thumbnail images. Some of the new information revealed from this material include:
Promotional "tie-in" to the January 1965 National Geographic story of the discovery of the sunken fleet.
Distributors participating in the display contest could buy their Spanish Treasure Fleet 75 FP for $18.75! The normal export price at wholesale was $37.50.
Itemized list of the promotional display kit.
These pens were sold only "through a few selected outlets in about 25 US cities".
The primary purpose of the pen was not to sell them to customers, rather, it "was to build store traffic", presumably to sell other Parker pens. "Because of limited supply, they cannot be offered for sale" in overseas markets.
From the bottom of an advertisement proof we now know this ad was placed in New Yorker magazine, sometime after January 1966. I investigated and found that the ad appeared in the February 5, 1966 issue.
All but the front and back cover have a high resolution image with readable text, and can be viewed by clicking on the image itself. These image files are approximately 0.5MB in size so be patient.
