This is an interesting prototype as it has the later crosshatch grid pattern as seen by the wider cap band. I am uncertain about the material used but it was lightweight. My guess is that it is made of stainless steel or aluminum; titanium would be too hard to etch the grid pattern.

Notice from the picture below that this prototype has flat tassies, again dating this item to some year prior to 1970.
