Here is an unusual laque with a very large splotchy pattern against a dark blue background.

As you can see, the only inscriptions to be found are:
PARKER
Logo of oval with arrow
MADE IN FRANCE
The fact that the date code is missing leads me to conclude that this pen may have pre-dated that convention. If this is correct, then that would mean this pen was made prior to 3Q1979, the earliest example I have for such a date code on a US-made sterling grid.
