RMS Queen Elizabeth - 1977

Notes

This limited edition had its cap and barrel made from recovered brass fittings salvaged from the RMS Queen Elizabeth passenger liner that sunk in Hong Kong harbor.  Serial number can be found on the back of the cap as seen below.

This pen had two different packages:

1. A handsome wooden box with an engraved brass plaque on top to commemorate the luxury liner,

2. A much larger and more decorative wooden chest with brass trim.

Both had an official certificate of authenticity but the wooden chest also include this booklet memorializing the ship and her service during World War II.

This limited edition pen appears only in the Parker catalog for 1977 and was removed from the 1978 catalog.  Interestingly, the tassie could have been adorned with custom logos from different organizations as seen below.

Here are some brass cap blanks that is the start for the RMS QE 75.  As you can see, this has a number of 16944, which may represent the prototype number for this limited edition pen.

The walls of this cap seems a bit thick, especially the brass that forms the cap band.
