The payment
Wednesday Feb 23, 2005
So far all this looks terrific, so I arrange for PayPal payment and notify
Patrick:
Hello Patrick,
I just sent the EUR 150 via PayPal, the first of two
as you suggested.
Please ship the set to me via registered mail at my
office address:
Lih-Tah Wong
20300 Civic Center Dr #300
Southfield, MI 48076
USA
I will let you know when the set arrives.
Thank you.
Regards,
Lih-Tah
Twelve hours later, Patrick replies back:
Hello Lih-Tah,
I received the payment today and I will have the pens
ready to send! I will ship them tommorow morning as first thing as said!
Patrick
20 minutes later I get this confirmation of payment acceptance from PayPal:
Dear Lih-Tah Wong,
This email confirms that Hans Butterbaum has accepted
the 150.00 EUR you sent.

Subject: Payment for your sterling Damier 75 set
Note: Hi Patrick.
Here is my first payment for EUR 150 as you
suggested. This is for the sterling silver Parker 75 Damier FP and FT set.
Please send to my address:
Lih-Tah Wong 20300 Civic Center Dr #300 Southfield,
MI 48076 USA
Thank you.

At first I am suspicious because the recipient is not Patrick Dieth but one
Hans Butterbaum. I decide that it could simply be that Patrick has no
PayPal account of his own, so he is getting help from a friend. I quickly
dismiss my suspicions.
Within 40 minutes, my reply to Patrick is a simple acknowledgement that there
will be another payment forthcoming:
Thank you Patrick.
I will email you when the pens arrive.
Shortly thereafter, I will PayPal the remainder.
Regards,
Lih-Tah
